Eater × YETI: three branded films from Hungary, Poland and Italy
This film is part of a series Riviera Media produced for Eater, the food brand of Vox Media, sponsored by the American outdoor brand YETI. We pitched this story to Eater: in Kalocsa, Peter Szabo and his team at Szabio grow and hand-pick paprika peppers, then turn them into powder without adding or removing anything. Their paprika is sold across Central Europe and in the US, including at Agi’s Counter in Brooklyn.
The brief
YETI wanted its products in the films without turning them into ads. Buckets, backpacks and coolers had to appear because the producers needed them, not because a brand had added new gear to the frame. Eater needed the same storytelling its audience expects from its Vendors series.
How we produced it
Watching the work first: before filming, we studied how each producer works day to day, to find the moments where a YETI product made sense.
Natural integration: buckets, backpacks and coolers are used in the normal flow of the work, so the brand fits the story instead of interrupting it.
Three countries, one team: we coordinated with local teams, hired a translator, organised travel and brought in an extra camera operator when needed.
Our role: field production, filming, drone and editing by Anna Muckerman and Mohamed Ahmed, working with Eater’s production team.
The series
Hungary: How One of the Most Vibrant Spices Is Made, with Szabio in Kalocsa, more than 727,000 views
Poland: Why It Takes 7 Pounds of Potatoes to Make the Perfect Bottle of Vodka, with Chopin Vodka, more than 1.3 million views
Italy: How the World’s Best Pork Fat Is Cured in Marble, with Larderia Mafalda in Colonnata, more than 451,000 views
The result
Published on Eater’s YouTube channel in 2024, the three films have nearly 2.5 million views. Eater and YETI were very happy with the results. The series is part of around 20 films we have produced for Eater since 2020.
